These significant findings were presented at the European Parliament event 13th May 2026 hosted by MEP Ondrej Dostal (NI, Czech Republic) which called for modernised digital access to prescription medicines across the EU.

Oksana Pyzik, MPharm, MRPharmS, FHEA, Associate Professor of Pharmacy Practice & Policy at UCL School of Pharmacy, presented the significant findings of a pan-European patient survey conducted by the OnHOME Alliance partners in collaboration with the UCL School of Pharmacy. The survey was carried out across 24 EU countries through 23 patient organisations and drew on responses from more than 500 patients living with a wide range of chronic conditions. 93% of patients expressed a desire for access to an online home-delivery service for prescription medicines, with 79% of respondents believing online access would support medication adherence, 84% saying it would facilitate prescription refills.

Brussels, 29 October 2024 – The Online Order and Home Delivery of Medicines (OnHOME) Alliance
was officially launched on 29 October 2024 in Brussels. The launch event called on policymakers to
take action towards enabling online access to prescription medicines for all patients across the
European Union.

Large-scale evidence on patients, carers and pharmacy owners asking for a greater choice that improves access to medicines and health outcomes.

A new major Alliance comprising major patient organisations are calling for action. A recent significant report by the Copenhagen Economics group highlighted the important reasons to enhance the health of patients when prescription medicines are available online.
